What Is GLAD Drinking Chocolate?
GLAD Drinking Chocolate is bean-to-bar chocolate, ground into small pieces specifically for drinking. We follow the same production process we use for our chocolate bars — carefully selecting cacao beans, roasting, grinding, and refining — but without adding cocoa butter, since this chocolate doesn't need to be tempered. The result is a block of pure chocolate that we grind into coarse pieces, making it melt easily and evenly into your drink.
It's real chocolate. Just in a form that was made to drink.
We offer it in three cacao percentages: 70%, 85%, and 100%, so whether you love a touch of sweetness or want the full intensity of pure cacao, there's a version for you. Available in 250g packs at our store and online - and in 1kg packs for cafés and restaurants.
How to Prepare It
Classic hot chocolate (single serving)
Measure 30g of chocolate into your cup. Add a small amount of hot water and use a bamboo whisk to dissolve the chocolate into a smooth paste. Then pour in your hot milk and whisk until creamy and well combined. That's it.
Iced chocolate (single serving)
Same process to dissolve the chocolate with a splash of hot water, then pour over cold milk and ice. Rich, smooth, and incredibly refreshing.
Large batch (perfect for sharing)
Warm 1 litre of milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 100g of chocolate and stir until fully melted. This is where things get interesting: try adding orange zest, fresh ginger, cinnamon, or any other infusion directly into the milk as it heats. The chocolate carries those flavors beautifully.
Extra Tip: It's Also an Ingredient
Since our Drinking Chocolate is simply ground real chocolate, it melts just as well in recipes as it does in your cup. Use it in brownies, brigadeiros, ganache, or any recipe that calls for melted chocolate. One product, endless possibilities.
